What We Check Before Connecting You
Washington gives homeowners more protection than most states. These are the things worth verifying, and we verify them.
Active L&I registration
Washington contractors must be registered with the Department of Labor & Industries. Registrations lapse, so we re-check on a recurring basis rather than once at signup.
Current surety bond
The bond exists specifically as homeowner recourse if something goes wrong. A lapsed bond is one of the most important things a homeowner can check and almost never does.
Liability insurance in force
Covers damage to your property during the work. We confirm it is current, not that it existed at some point.
Infraction history
L&I publishes infractions against registered contractors. We look, because a pattern of them tells you more than any review page.

Verify anyone yourself
Three things to check when you look someone up. First, that the registration status reads active — not expired, not suspended. Second, that the bond and insurance are both current, since these are your recourse if the work goes wrong. Third, that the business name on your written bid matches the name on the register exactly; a mismatch is one of the most reliable warning signs there is.
Save a copy of the record on the day you sign. If the status changes later, that copy is evidence of what was represented to you at the time.
