Washington’s climate makes this tighter

West of the Cascades, high ambient humidity means materials dry more slowly than they would in a drier state. Opening windows and running domestic fans does less here than the same advice would achieve in Arizona, because outside air through a Puget Sound autumn is often as damp as inside air.

Crawl spaces, wall cavities and under-floor voids are slower and more expensive to dry than open rooms. Washington’s prevalence of crawl space construction means a meaningful share of restoration work happens in the least accessible part of the house.

Mold

If growth has established, remediation is a separate scope from drying — containment, removal of affected material, and treatment of what remains. Fast drying is precisely what prevents needing it, which is another way of saying the same thing about time.

Documentation and insurance

Ask the contractor to record moisture readings at the start and throughout the drying process. That record supports your claim and demonstrates the structure actually reached dry standard rather than being declared dry.
